Semester 2 Management & Information Systems Week 1 Reflection
Lecture:
For the first week of Management & Information Systems we were introduced to the module and were given a rough idea about what the module would focus on and what exactly we would would be learning about this semester. From the lecture it was clear that this module was going to focus on a mixture of the technological and the human aspect of business and how they correlate. We also discussed exactly what we were required to do for our coursework tasks; our coursework involved getting into groups of 4-5 and researching IS problems that a business of our choice was experiencing through both primary and secondary research, once we had obtained enough information we will then need to create a presentation and then video us delivering said presentation as a group. We will also be required to creative reflective blog entries over the course of the next 9 weeks. Our last coursework task is to create a report reflecting on the task and how the members of our group worked together and how much they contributed. In our lecture we were also informed about the importance of avoiding plagiarism and what the university considers to be plagiarism.
Seminar:
In our seminar we further elaborated on the specifics of our group work task and how we should carry out our presentation, we were informed of certain actions we should avoid such as; recording the presentation in an area with poor lighting, having all members of the group in the cameras focus at all times during the presentation, recording the entire presentation and then uploading it without first checking the sound quality of the video. We also got into our groups for the task and came up with a team name TRIMD, we also established which company we would be focusing on, deciding on HR Education ltd., and we then started making plans for what steps we would be taking in the following days and when we would go to one of HR Education ltd. offices to begin interviewing an employee in order to obtain the information needed for us to start working on the presentation.
