Dzani Ashi Management & Information Systems Week 4
Lecture
In this week's lecture we learned about more information system terms with this lecture particularly focusing on Business Intelligence (BI) which involves the use of ISs to gather and analyze information from internal and external sources in order to make better business decisions. BI is used to identify threats and opportunities as well as continuously monitor and analyze the business process. We also learned about the link between BI and databases as well as the overall functions and advantages of having a database and how to effectively manage a database. We also went over; business analytics, decision support systems (DSS), intelligent agents, information visualization, machine learning (neutral networks) and geographic information.
Seminar
In this week's seminar we continued working with spreadsheets to help develop our skills with Excel so that we became more comfortable and confident with using the software to conduct business calculations. We made further use of the dollar sign function in our equations this week so we became more familiarized with how and when to make use of it and how it can make organizing spreadsheets much easier.
Group Work
This week in our groups we organised when we would have our team meeting so that we could review how the interview with our chosen business went so that we could begin planning what our next steps would be in relation to our presentation.
